Newer Than: Search this thread only Search this forum only Display results as threads More... The center definitely works so it seems to be an issue with the receiver. It was both the cable box and XBox being in stereo and the AVR also being in stereo. I have a sony dvd player as well...

Also, sounds like your source is only stereo, correct? I believe it is usually a soldering problem. I have an Onk and not a Pio, but the general principal is the same. First, disconnect both wires going to the center channel speaker from the receiver. So this must mean my receiver has a problem. Recently though I made the plunge into home theater ownership and with that I've also encountered my first problem to go along with it.

You're lucky your Sony lasted three years. I hooked one of the other working speakers up to the center connection on the back of the receiver and I get nothing. Yep, sounds bad... These new AVRs have tons of "features" and sometimes default to various modes without consulting you.
