It is probably greyed out because it is not seeing any inputs. I attach the screenshot of the Sound and audio Devices. It appears on mine the Nvidia is for graphics card output for HDMI, built in monitor speakers, etc. I am not sure if it should be like that. Source

Windows update even provided an update for the nvidia drivers once I connected to the internet.
